INNOVATION

Technology today is enabling a much more precise study of how different cannabinoid and terpene combinations affect different individuals — and Molecular Farms is at the forefront of leveraging these learnings to create highly targeted, predictable, and functional new generations of cannabis.

Indeed, while industry convention has settled on the physical structure of cannabis plants as an index of effects (indica vs.sativa), we’ve long been focused on the chemical properties and attributes that actually influence the end user, and which enable manufacturers to create consistent, standardized products.

  • MARKER-ASSISTED SELECTION TO CREATE NOVEL CHEMOVARS
  • OVER 1,500 CHEMICALLY UNIQUE CLONAL VARIETIES
  • FULLY DIGITIZED TRACKING LIBRARY AND ANALYTICAL TOOLS

Marker-assisted selection targets key points on the DNA, which are known to regulate specific characteristics and properties… This kind of chemotypic breeding is what enables us to cultivate a broad variety of flowers that smell and taste so different, and which produce a rich array of entourage effects.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

Powering our analytical best practices are industry-leading tools supplied by our development partner, Napro Research.

These include PhytoFacts® — which allows us to categorize, visualize, and understand cannabis flower compositions and profiles — as well as PhytoVerifyTM: a novel business intelligence platform that streamlines breeding production and tracks crops by chemotype.

Supported by Biotech Institute and Napro Research, Molecular Farms develops all of its chemovars in-house, and sorts each one by genetics in our digital library. This approach has proven incredibly effective in identifying + optimizing the desirable traits that are bred into our parental lines.
